Digital Object 1711
Description:
Fossil of a megalodon tooth. It is not perforated and shows no signs of hafting or use, yet the tooth edge is blunt (no sharp edge). Being a fossil it is possible that this is due to a naturally occurring erosion process. We do not rule out the possibility, however, that it has been used and that this use has blunted its edge.

The date shown on the card does not refer to the age of the ecofact, but to the age of the deposit in which it was found.
