br>br> Archaeological excavations carried out since 2008 at the El Caño site (Coclé, Panama) have documented a set of elite ritual burials with grave goods and offerings of notable wealth, dated between the VIII and XI centuries. These are multiple burials practiced inside large pits excavated deliberately in the geological substratum of the lower terrace of Rio Grande.
